About Me

There were also many very funny moments in the film including one scene where Farrell decks a guy he thinks is an American and right afterwards says: "That's for John Lennon." But then part way through the Movie Awards games leaderboards|https://Moviefestivalhub.com/ the tone changes abruptly into a much darker and tragic mode. Humor is still sprinkled throughout after this turn, but when you laugh at this point it's almost more like nervous laughter, just to release the tension of what you're watch

Directed by Martin McDonagh, In Bruges stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as Ray and Ken, two Irish hitmen sent to Belgium to carry out an assignment for their boss Harry, played by Ralph Fiennes. When a previous botched mission leads Harry to give Ken unexpected orders regarding Ray, the two find themselves at odds with each other and must decide how to proc
Several indie and lesser-known critical-darlings received little-to-no love from the Hollywood Foreign Press, including titles like The Tree of Life , Warrior , Drive , Martha Marcy May Marlene , and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy . Similarly, there were more than a few surprising snubs (no Best Director nod for David Fincher on The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo ? No Winnie the Pooh for Best Animated Feature?) and certain films fared far better than anticipated (namely, The Ides of March ). However, there were also more than a few no-brainers (ex. Meryl Streep being nominated for The Iron Lady ) and some rather unexpected choices (ex. Ryan Gosling in Crazy, Stupid, Lov
The other thing that bothered me that I alluded to above was that I've never seen a 12 year old wearing just underwear in a movie in so many scenes. There were also instances of her lifting her dress to carry fruit or to pull something she'd been carrying out of her underwear. I can only assume the point of that was to show that she was very un-self-conscious about her body, but this doesn't jive with her constantly wanting to kiss her best friend. That indicates to me that she is starting to enter puberty which I would think comes with an increased sense of priv
It wasn't the F-word or the humor that struck me as odd, heck, I thought Superbad was really funny - it was the incongruity of the scenery and music against what the actors were saying and doing. On a side note, if profanity in films bothers you, this is SO not the movie for yo
In television, it was Showtime that came out on top, with three awards all stemming from brand new series. Matt Leblanc took home Best Actor (comedy or musical) for playing a fictionalized version of himself on the UK import Episodes , while Homeland not only brought home a Golden Globe for Claire Danes as Best Actress (drama), but it also gave Showtime its first ever award for Best Ser
In the absence of Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson has stood up and taken hold of the series to legitimize it beyond it's love of excess and spectacle. She has been afforded a slightly different character to the one she usually plays in Ryan Murphy's aging series and the result is a commanding performance that deserves to be singled
Francine is somewhat mysterious and very intriguing, and through their relationship throws Jason a lifleline and brings him some brief joy. She gives him a feeling of self-worth and validates what a good person he is. Unfortunately she has her own issues that make her damaged goods, and his happiness is short-li
If Mr. Robot wins Best Drama, there's a good chance its star will also be recognized. It makes sense that the two would go together. And besides, Malek took on a complicated, potentially disastrous role as the troubled Elliot and turned it into an affecting and exciting example of just how fascinating an unreliable narrator can be when placed in the hands of such a talented perfor
On the TV side: the mini-series Mildred Pierce landed four nods, including acting nominations for stars Kate Winslet, Guy Pearce, and Evan Rachel Wood. Showtime's Homeland , HBO's Boardwalk Empire , and ABC's Modern Family each landed three nods, while HBO's hit fantasy series Game of Thrones and FX's successful spooky romp American Horror Story also managed to secure two nominations (including, in the coveted Best Dramatic Television Series category). Sadly, AMC's critical smash, Breaking Bad , only landed a Best Actor
Rami Malek was fantastic in Mr. Robot and there's reason to guess he might take home the award (look below), but Hamm made Don Draper such a rich and interesting character for seven seasons, it's hard to think that he hasn't earned another nod for his contribution to one of the best television series in hist
For much of the evening, Michael Hazanavicius’ black-and-white silent film homage, The Artist , swept the Golden Globes in the comedy category, coming out on top overall with three wins for Best Original Score, Best Actor and Best Picture. Over on the drama side, Alexander Payne's The Descendants t ook home the most awards in the drama category with a Best Actor win for George Clooney and Best Pict
