With little time left in 2018, Rare is already preparing for next year, beginning with a new PVP mode called The Arena . There is no release date as of yet, but players should expect it to launch early in 2019. According to Polygon , The Arena is not a Battle Royale mode, although the game mode will allow players to compete with one another quickly. The Arena will pit gamers against one another in a search for treasure. In Sea of Thieves , the overarching goal is to become a pirate legend. So, how does one do that? Honestly, that picture is still not quite clear. The game does an incredibly poor job of telling you how to begin your journey. It gives you a very brief tutorial on how to use items, open the item wheel, find quests, and using the voyage table on the ship. Otherwise, you are thrust into this world to figure out everything yours  
I think we already established that the Sea of Thieves community is awesome. It’s tight-knit, it’s mostly friendly, and most people do not take it personally when their ship is sunk and their booty - stolen. After all, that’s what the game is all about, right? But, surely, most people would not attack an empty ship, just to get some cheap laughs by watching it sink to the bottom of the sea, right? Well, wrong. The announcement of a PVP mode should come as no surprise. Fans had been clamoring for Sea of Thieves to create a Battle Royale mode. Rare responded by saying the mode, or something like it, would likely happen if they felt there was enough interest. Considering how popular and successful the genre has been , it’s safe to say that players were sufficiently interested. Battle Royales aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, with Call of Duty and Battlefield V creating their own versions to compete with the current reigning champion of the genre, Fortnite . Rare has been hard at work making up for the initial lack of content, but the game was still coming up short when it came to competitive action. The new PVP mode could change all that. To be clear, The Arena won’t be another Battle Royale but Rare never wanted it to be. They set out to create a game different from those around them. Hopefully for players 2019 will unveil a new series of fun content to keep them returning to Sea of Thiev  
Either way, however, it is a fact that Rare are doing their best and they keep improving Sea of Thieves with every update they push to users. A lot has changed in the game and there’s more coming our way. So, with that in mind, let us look at the pirate title of the year once more, as there are plenty of reasons for you to give it a second chance. Upon realizing how everything works, you'll begin to notice just how gorgeous Sea of Thieves is. It is one of the most beautiful games I have ever seen. The best word to describe the first sunset and sunrise I saw is breathtaking. The way the sun reflects off the incredibly animated ocean is a technical feat. It is the best looking water I have seen in a video game. This, in conjunction with its cartoon-style player models and environments, makes the tedium of the quests somewhat bearaOf course, if you are sailing about, it's best to do it with friends or other players in general, because playing alone is a massive chore. It wouldn't be that bad if you had a simpler vessel to get between islands, but even the smallest ships are still clearly built around having a crew to manage the sails, map, steering, anchor, cannons and more all at one. Unsurprisingly, trying to manage all of that at once just gets frustrating quickly and will lead to more than a few crashes the first time around.
