Hogwarts Legacy was announced last summer as an original RPG in the Harry Potter universe. Players will take control of a student at the magical school of Hogwarts decades prior to the arrival of "the boy who lived". The game will open up a lot of unseen angles to this universe, such as expanding on its history while also showcasing iconic locations. The game looks very promising, but more recent developments have caused some concern. The game's lead designer, Troy Leavitt, has been under fire after journalist Liam Robertson discovered that he has a history of spreading controversial Gamergate rhetoric on a personal YouTube chan

So considering the level of scrutiny anything having to do with the Harry Potter series is under recently, it comes as somewhat of a surprise to learn that Hogwarts Legacy 's lead designer, Troy Leavitt, has a history of anti-feminist and pro-GamerGate views that he's elaborated on in a series of videos posted on his YouTube channel, as Kotaku has recently reported. His videos range from praising cultural appropriation, promoting putting the National Guard in schools or shooting active school shooters (who are almost always teenagers), to downplaying the extensive sexual assault allegations levied against former Disney/Pixar CCO John Lasseter because Lasseter was personally nice to Leavitt. Hogwarts is a place full of dangerous creatures, environments, and situations. No parent in their right minds should allow their children to go there, magic or no magic. There’s a giant angry three-headed dog in the cellar ffs! Who allowed that? Anyway, the pinnacle of these life threatening situations is the Triwizard Tournament. Young children are put face-to-face with fire-breathing dragons, then have to rescue their best friends from drowning at the bottom of a lake, and are finally forced to make their way out of a maze filled with deadly traps and a Dark Lord or two. If made well, the Triwizard Tournament would make one hell of a major side-quest, and a good source of Galleons
