About Me

Our slip ratings that we apply to flooring surfaces are endorsed by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) ensuring quality and consistency by qualified scientists that you can rely on. Get in touch using the form below and our experts will get in contact soon! Interested in slip resistance testing or consulting for your organisation? Tests and reports are conducted using Australian and International Standards as well as The National Construction Code. Working with QED, the only NATA accredited laboratory in WA to perform and report on slip tests means our reporting is assured by an independent third party. Ongoing monitoring of in-situ flooring is conducted according to AS 4663 Slip resistance measurement of existing pedestrian surface

Our technicians are highly trained and utilise the latest technology available including wet pendulum tests to ensure our clients have peace of mind and comply with their insurer’s requirements. Our team also performs regular onsite slip testing and slip accident investigations, public liability risk assessments and we provide expert witness evidence in slip and fall accidents. Both ends of the specimens should have sufficient length and a surface condition such that they are firmly gripped during testing. For workpieces that are machined from bar stock, the test specimen can be made from the same piece as the bar stock. In smaller workpieces or when critical parts of the casting must be tested, a workpiece may be sacrificed to make the test specimens. These specimens may not be exact representation of the whole workpiece because the grain structure may be different throughout. In large castings and forgings it is common to add extra material, which is designed to be removed from the casting so that test specimens can be made from it. Each system has advantages and disadvantages; for example, shoulders designed for serrated grips are easy and cheap to manufacture, but the alignment of the specimen is dependent on the skill of the technicia

These standards rely on robust accreditation to ensure they are applied consistently and effectively in practice. As the nation’s leading, independent standards body, Standards Australia defines, develops and maintains Australian Standards® that support safety, quality, and innovation. In addition, NMI’s NATA accreditation assists our strategically important partners such the Federal and State Government departments of Agriculture, Health and Environment. Importantly, our accreditation and the processes followed provide superior patient health outcomes for patients. This includes wide brand recognition, industry influence and trust within the broader communit

We provide suppliers of flooring products (manufacturers and importers) NATA-endorsed test AS/NZS 4586 Slip Testing certification of their pedestrian surface materials. Our in-house laboratory can also assess flooring products prior to installation. QED will tailor a slip resistance testing program to each facility depending on the surfaces involved and pedestrian traffic patterns.
Safety
Our AS/NZS 4586 Slip Testing reports can help with verification of your property’s yearly compliance. Please contact Safe Environments to discuss how we may assist on providing slip ratings to your flooring products or to your construction site, prior to handover of a new building. We also offer slip ratings after accelerated wear conditioning protocol to assess how the slip ratings may change over time. We offer a range of services to ensure slip resistance for surfaces, including testing to Australian and international standards. The specialists at Safe Environments provide independent NATA accredited floor slip test services to assess the risk of slip and fall accident

Weathering & UV Exposure Testing
To simulate outdoor weathering, the QUV accelerated weathering tester exposes materials to alternating cycles of UV light and moisture at controlled, elevated temperatures. By accelerating the forces of weathering in a controlled lab environment, you can get faster results about product durability. Although natural outdoor testing is the most true and accurate way to conduct weathering test exposures, testing can take a long time – 5, 10, even 20 or more years for highly-durable materials. Florida and Arizona are internationally-recognized benchmark locations for outdoor exposure testing. Natural outdoor testing at our benchmark test locations in Florida and Arizona is the best way to establish the outdoor durability of your products.
What are Accelerated Weathering Test Methods
This allows manufacturers and researchers to assess the durability and weather resistance of products in a shorter time than natural exposure would require outdoors. Materials exposed to sunlight, rain, and other environmental conditions often undergo degradation over time, resulting in fading, cracking, weakening, or loss of their original appearance.
