"We know that our unaided awareness for Ghosts is leading the way against other unreleased triple-A titles. Our digital content has proven extremely popular and Black Ops II has sold more than 3m units in the
Grand Theft Auto V was always destined to make a ton of cash being one of, if not the biggest franchise in all of gaming. It was certainly going to need to after becoming the most expensive video game ever produced. Bloomberg had predicted that the franchise would make a billion within its first month, which seems to be a somewhat misjudged prediction now. Mostly because, after becoming one of the highest rated games of all-time , it should reach the billion mark point in just its first two d
According to IGN , Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive revealed that GTA V made $800 million dollars in its first day of trading, to which they are quite understandably "thrilled" with. The company revealed that the game became "the highest first day retail sales of any title in the history of the company and the Grand Gta5Play.Com Theft Auto series." For a company that has the entire back catalog of GTA , as well as games like Red Dead Redemption , that is no small feat. But that statement might still be selling this success shThe content of these games shouldn't matter. The greater principle at stake here is the idea that people should be free to express their ideas, a value clearly held dearly by movie-goers but not so much by the gaming community. Society has spoken about movies: we want any film, regardless of how controversial the subject matter, to be available to the public in an exercise of our right to free speech and ideal of free expression. The question remains when, if ever, will society feel the same way about video games?
And fans certainly seem to think so - or more specifically, video game modders . For those unfamiliar, "modding" derives from the verb "modify," and refers to the act of altering hardware or software to perform a function not originally intended by the designer - like dropping a superhero in the middle of **Grand Theft Auto ** , for exam
The Batman: Arkham video game series did for gaming what Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy __ did for film: it fully realized the medium as a dynamic, complex, and accolade-worthy platform for superheroes, while still maintaining the respective franchise's impressive scope. It's a wonder, then, that more video game producers have yet to capitalize on this same success, or try their hand at comic book inspired games - especially considering the current cape-and-cowl trend dominating cine
A majority of the new content for players to enjoy amounts to new challenges and events, which, upon completion, yield new vehicles and weapons with which to terrorize the city. Our three protagonists each get an exclusive story mission of their own (including a murder mystery and underwater photography) which also lead to acquiring new rewards, such as a mini submarine and new camera filters. You know, just in case players wish to explore their inner photograp
The video game industry has been a little unstable with its expectations in the last few years. Several top franchise games failed to meet lofty revenue goals - despite selling very well in their own right. Resident Evil 6 was deemed to have "fallen short of the plan" despite selling several million copies. Tomb Raide r , which sold 3.8 million copies at the time of the report, was deemed an "extraordinary loss" by Square Enix . Some blame the high expectations on Call of Duty with companies pumping more and more money into their games to try and replace the military shooter as one of the industry's most consistent sell
Call of Duty: Ghosts has a lot to overcome if it wants to even come close to GTA V 's sales numbers. Even so, Activision seems confident that even if it isn't Call of Duty: Ghosts , their flagship franchise will hold the record again by the time Rockstar release the next game in the Grand Theft Auto ser
While Call of Duty remains one of the industry's most consistent moneymakers, it has begun to see a slow decline in sales over the last few years. On top of that, Activision revealed that the number of pre-orders for Call of Duty: Ghosts have been a little lower than expected - subsequently blaming the discrepancy on confusion over the next generation launch. Piling the odds against the game even further, this year they'll be up against Battlefield 4 , which is expected to be chasing sales records as w
The upcoming PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Grand Theft Auto V won't just include new content for new and returning players to dig into. While that, combined with the improved visuals and bigger multiplayer were probably enough to entice many to make the return trip, Rockstar has implemented an entirely new feature for the upcoming version, which is sure to push people over the edge into "well, I guess I really need to get this again" territ
